Based in Sacramento, California, Max Whittaker is a photojournalist committed to documenting news and social issues around the world. Raised in rural Northern California, he went on to earn a history degree at the University of California, Davis. A former mountain guide, Max became entranced with the power of the still image while on a climbing trip through Peru and Bolivia. He has covered presidential campaigns in the US, war in Iraq, and poverty in California. A regular contributor to The New York Times, his work has been featured in Time, Newsweek, Men's Journal, Fortune, BusinessWeek, Le Monde, L'Express, and many others.
